Laws
applicable to Assistive Listening Systems
FEDERAL LAW

The most important law in regard to Assistive Listening Systems is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  It sets forth the requirement for the systems including when and where they must be installed, what signage must be present to alert potential users to their presence, and how many receivers must be available based on the seating capacity of the venue.  25% of receivers are required to have neckloops to make them compatible with telecoil equipped hearing aids.
